groceriesI went grocery shopping this weekend and saved 49% ($165.28). I spent about 2 hours clipping, researching and making a list. I’m not great at math but I would say that my time was well spent. I have been a couponer for almost 6 years now and I have learned some tricks of the trade. You can read more about an introduction to couponing on a prior post here.

I typically shop at Krogers because they are most conveniently located to my house. Just like most stores, there are sales! Specifically, there was a mega sale going on now which allows shoppers to buy 5 participating items and get $5 off. When you combine this sale with coupons, you can get some pretty good deals including a few free items!!!

I typically do 1 big grocery shopping trip every 3-6 weeks depending on needs and sales. This weekend was an excellent opportunity for a big trip since Krogers had a mega sale going on. I stocked up on several household items and personal care stuff and got groceries for the week including meat and fresh produce. The total before coupons was $344.93 and my out-of-pocket was $173.70. OK, its not Extreme Couponing worthy but its pretty good.

So since you can ready all about couponing 101 in another post, this post will be about some specific examples of current deals.

My toddler and preschooler love juice boxes and honestly, I love them too because of the convenience. Kroger sent me a $1 off coupon for Adam and Eve juice. The juice was part of the mega sale so if I bought 5 participating items, to get the juice for $1.49 but since I also had the $1 off coupon, the juice boxes were $0.49.

I also like to scrapbook and capture every moment possible. I love to travel. I’m getting better at meal-planning and cooking regularly. My boys and I are on-the-go and always taking advantage of various opportunities and activities around Dayton. My favorite things about motherhood are watching my children learn and discover and rough-housing with my boys.
