So, my littles love crafts. But, I’m not the most creative mom on the block. So, I resort to craft books from the library, Google, and my creative mom friends for ideas and inspiration. Here’s what we have going on this time of the year:
- Good old-fashioned pumpkin carving. Sadly, my kids won’t touch the pumpkin guts.
- Roasted pumpkin seeds. Just rinse the seeds from your carved pumpkin, drizzle some of your favorite cooking oil on a cookie sheet, spread the seeds on the cookie sheet, bake at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes, sprinkle some salt on top, and voila! Tasty, and pretty healthy to boot!
- Decorate fake pumpkin with glow in the dark puff paint. My girlies LOVED this activity. Although, beware – wash your children as soon as possible if you don’t want glowing children at bedtime. It’s super hard to get it all off of their arms once it dries. Ahem. Not that I had this problem.
- Make giant spiders. We bought some of those craft foam balls for the body, black pipe cleaners for the legs, and we used leftover glow in the dark paint to make eyes/decorate. First, we painted the balls black with finger paint. Next, they decorated with glow in the dark paint. Then, we added legs. Not exactly like what was pictured our craft book, but we had fun.
What else should we add to our list? I love easy projects requiring minimal steps and supplies.
