The Heart of DMB post highlights an organization chosen by a member of the DMB writing team. The chosen organization is near and dear to the heart of the person who authored this piece and publication of this post does not indicate endorsement by DMB as an organization.

Very dear to the heart of this Dayton Mom Blogger is the New Life Clinic.  Nestled right in the center of the town of Wilmington, OH is this amazing place that offers hope and help to so many.  The facility is right across the street from the Clinton county courthouse and it is beautiful inside.  It is equipped with a baby boutique where clients can use their “Baby Bucks”, counseling rooms, education classrooms as well as state of the art ultrasound equipment.

New Life Clinic is described on their website as dedicated to helping women and men who are facing pregnancy-related circumstances and dealing with significant life issues.  New Life Clinic is a non-profit organization that serves clients in the areas of pregnancy testing, early ultrasounds, abortion information, post-abortion counseling, birth control information, options counseling, guidance to new moms and dads, and provision of essential baby and maternity items.

The New Life Clinic is so much more…and I love being part of it.  New Life Clinic has client advocates that greet you when you come in and have been professionally trained to help you.  They want to help you however they can.  Whether you find yourself with an unplanned pregnancy or need help with some items for your child’s needs, they are there to talk with you, pray with you, and help you make a plan for what is ahead for you.  Once a pregnancy has been confirmed through a test at New Life Clinic, you can find a safe place to sit and think about your options, take a deep breath and think about the future and what it looks like.  New Life Clinic has an amazing nurse that can provide an ultrasound for you and discuss how far along you are and the development of your baby.

New Life Clinic has a great relationship with the other county agencies and can help you get the documentation you need to get assistance. New Life Clinic does not stop when a pregnancy is confirmed.  This is only the beginning of their journey with you.

New Life Clinic seeks to Educate

They offer classes to help you in parenting, relationships, and personal growth.  Our Education Director has done a great job with developing classes that can benefit the clients – below are some classes that the clinic has offered.  Many have incentives (free Crock-Pot, free crib, and many more) just for participating in the class.

Pregnancy 101 – Whether it’s your first pregnancy or your third, every pregnancy is different.  This five-week course is designed to help you become comfortable with the changes happening to your body, to prepare you for a safe and healthy delivery, and what to expect during the first weeks at home with your new baby.

Parenting 101 – Just as each pregnancy is different, so is each child.  In this four-week course, you will learn how to establish a schedule for you and baby, health and safety concerns, nutrition basics and important developmental milestones to look for.

Parenting 102 – The class is designed to help students understand the complex nature of child development and the important role that parents play in the healthy development of their child.  Students learn about the stages of development throughout the lifespan, the styles of parenting and their impact on a child, how to improve language development, the costs involved in raising a child and other topics related to parenting infants and toddlers.

Relationships 101 – Happy and healthy children need happy and healthy parents.  This course will explore the twelve characteristics that have been identified as essential ingredients in creating lasting and thriving unions.

Cooking on a Shoestring Budget – Learn how to stretch your WIC and food stamp benefits. Learn how to use coupons to your benefit, meal plan and explore recipes specifically designed to work for your unique needs (4 weeks).

Job Skills – Upon successful completion of this 4-week course, students will be able to create a complete resume representing their skills, experience, and educational background.

Budgeting – Obviously, in our world you must have some source of income to survive.  It can be very confusing to manage your money. In this 5-week course, we’ll discuss the best ways to spend and save your money to best serve your family.  If you’ve never been taught how to budget, don’t be worried, we’ll show you how!

Men’s Fraternity: The Quest for Authentic Manhood – This series is the foundational level, or ground floor of manhood.  This five-module study focuses on a man’s core identity and gives an overview of basic manhood issues.   It will help men deal with various identity issues by looking back at past wounds and other things that may have distorted their idea of biblical masculinity.

Essentials of Discipline – Parenthood is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences most of us will ever have!  But in the middle of busy days, runny noses and carpooling, we sometimes forget to enjoy the journey.  In this 3-part series, you’ll gain the practical understanding, dynamic biblical principles, and encouragement you need to shape your child’s will without breaking his or her spirit, and feel confident in your ability to handle discipline in a positive way.

New Life Clinic also offers sexual health education in the schools of Clinton County, hoping to teach young adults at a young age, how to be sexually healthy and how to make good choices. The clinic averages teaching approx. 300 students a year in the schools.

New Life Clinic seeks to Encourage

The client advocates and staff truly care about the clients.  They want to walk alongside you and help you.  They want to encourage you to make good and wise choices.  They want every client to succeed and will help them do just that.

New Life Clinic seeks to Empower

The staff of New Life Clinic is committed to helping clients take what they have learned through the classes and relationships with people at the clinic and be successful.

New Life Clinic is a great resource for Dayton and the surrounding area.  Most people think that the clinic confirms pregnancy and then sends you on your way, but NLC offers so much more.

Hey local mommas! I grew up in Centerville, but I now live in Wilmington with my husband Tony. Together we have 6 kids, Joe, and his wife Allison, Austin, and his wife Hannah, Sydney and her husband Hayden, Andrew and his wife Lauren and our littles, Max and Eli. Did I mention we are a little nuts starting over with this parenting thing when we are 45+? We are officially adding new titles to our names in 2022- Tiki and Jeep (our version of Grandma and Grandpa). My husband and I are both ministers, and we get to work together in a local church. We were both married before and brought our families together in 2010. After a few years of marriage we felt God's leading for us to adopt. We added Max to our family in 2014 and Eli joined us in 2017, our quiver is officially full! Blending our family has been an adventure! Add some ex-spouses and two birth mommas and we have ourselves a crazy crew! Coffee is my love language. The beach is my happy place and I long to have my toes in the sand. I love being part of the team at Dayton Mom Collective.
