The “Not So Average” Father’s Day Gift Guide

0

As kids, my sister and I’s go to Father’s Day gift was always a tie with some kind of sports-related theme. We would usually make him a card ourselves and our mom would keep us out of his way as he did yard work, took a nap, and caught up with the Sunday paper. Fast-forward 20 years and here I am trying to figure out what to get my husband for Father’s Day from our kids.

I’m very into supporting local Dayton businesses when I’m out and about shopping for family and friends, so this got me thinking about “not so average” gifts and where to find them here in Dayton.

Check out my list and get your“not so average” Dad a “not so average” gift that he’ll love this Father’s Day!

Breweries

Dayton is FULL of awesome breweries so grab dad a growler or make a day of it and travel around to a few of the establishments themselves! We’ve made this one easy on you by compiling a DMB Brewery List that you can check out here! Another fun option is to check out one of Dayton’s newer hangout spots District Provisions for all things beer, wine, charcuterie and fantastic eats!

Local Shops

Here in Dayton, we have some pretty cool eclectic shops. If you’ve got a dad that marches to the beat of his own drum, check out some shops like Heart Mercantile in the Oregon District or Pi Style Boutique in Centerville. You’re sure to find some interesting gifts and cards at one of these places!

Calling All Foodies

One thing Dayton isn’t lacking is food choices! Try out some unique local eats like Zombie Dogz on Brown Street, eat a great locally sourced meal at Lily’s Bistro in the Oregon District, or check out Old Scratch Pizza for a deliciously good time! These are just a few of my husband’s favorites around town, but there are tons of other amazing options that a simple google search will lead you straight to!

Unique Outings

If your dad is more into adventure and fun, Dayton has you covered there as well. Try and escape from one of the crazy rooms at Breakout Games Dayton, go old school at Laser Web Dayton, or look into something more unique like axe throwing or curling! No matter what you choose to go and do with dad, I’m sure he’ll love it.

Man-Scaping

If your looking for a way to help dad relax this fathers day check out some local spa’s like Woodhouse Day Spa or Hicks Barber Shop and Shave Parlor. Even dad’s deserve to be pampered every now and again.

While there are tons of other Father’s Day options here in the Dayton area, these were just a few that I know my husband and fellow dad friends really enjoy. So check out some of these places and surprise dad with something different this year. I’m sure you’ll be able to “wow” him with a few of the choices we’ve made above!

If you have more suggestions please drop them in the comments, or tell us about your Father’s Day experience if you choose to go to one of the places we’ve listed above!
