The Dayton Moms Guide to Local Splash Playgrounds

A few weeks ago our family went to Miami University to see my sweet niece run in a track meet. The day started off stormy and by the afternoon, it was gorgeous and sunny. We decided on lunch and as we were walking the campus, my 3 year old saw with is curious little eyes water shooting from the ground in a space of sidewalk. Children were running in it and college kids as well, so with my quick mom thinking, I told him if he ate all his lunch we could go and check it out. Normally meals are struggle, but  he ate lunch in record time and we found ourselves at the most amazing little piece of concrete and water heaven. For the next hour we played until our little toes were wrinkly.  Thanks to a backpack full of extra clothes in the car, we were dry and asleep in the van before we left campus.

The Dayton area has Splash Playgrounds all over, pack an extra bag for when you stumble across one or better yet, plan to visit each one this summer…’s supposed to be a hot one.

Make sure you check daily times for these parks and recreation centers (I’ve thrown in a few options that have nominal costs). Most open Memorial Day weekend and run through Labor Day weekend.
