The debate on c-sections and whether that is “real” birth or the “easy way out” have been a hot topic for a long time. I’ve had two and I can say they are not easy, but I think any way you are able to give birth to a healthy baby is what’s most important. However, I’m not here to debate that hot topic. Instead, I would like to provide 5 products that I’ve used to help with the c-section recovery.
- C-section Band – The hospital I delivered at provided one for each delivery and they were a real life saver. It not only helps put pressure on the incision to help you move around, but it also is great to help everything go back in place (because we all know things get a little more fluffy for a bit after birth). You can also find several different kinds on Amazon.
- Ibuprofen and Tylenol – These have been real life savers with pain management. Don’t be afraid to use them if you need them.
- Loosely Fitted Pants – Yoga pants or leggings are roomy and don’t put pressure on the incision. I bought some extra before my second delivery to ensure I had enough to wear for a while.
- Pads – Of course you need these for other reasons, but I have found putting one over the incision during the first few days after the surgery has helped protect it from any rubbing of underwear, pants, the c-section band, etc.
- High Wasted Underwear – For me, these are the most comfortable, but it’s important to have underwear that sits above the incision and not directly on it. It also helps keep the pad in place that is over the incision.
