Motherhood is a Beautifully Crafted Experience

0

The pathway to motherhood starts when you look down at that pregnancy test and see a pink line. You may or may not believe what you just saw. You might just sit down and stare at it for minutes, and that’s how it happens. That tiny test is the sign that a baby has begun to grow inside you.

You might go and buy more tests to confirm it, and at the time you find out you are expecting a baby it may be little scary but your shock will quickly turn into elation.

The onset of motherhood can be scary but slowly you will begin to feel much more responsible for the soul who completely relies on you. The constant feeling of anxiety and fatigue accompanies you. Every passing week comes with a growing tummy. Every passing day your body will begin to take pregnancy seriously and by week 30, your cute baby bump will start to become much more noticeable.

You might not love pregnancy initially because you will feel and look unlike your normal self. But a quick thought of a baby growing inside of you is more than enough to lift your spirits.

However painful the period of pregnancy can be, that little face full of innocence is more than enough to let go all the troubles. This is the magical and the sweetest thing you will ever experience when you hold your child in your arms for the first time. That feeling is surreal.

You won’t be able to think of a time you felt so happy. It will be the most beautiful time in life where you finally have what you’ve always waited for for so long. You will be simply joyful despite being sleep driven and fatigued.

The birth of a new life brings the mixture of joy and pain. The journey of motherhood starts which needs high-end responsibilities from your end. The moment you first take the test, there will be no looking back. You will be your baby’s mommy. And that baby will be yours. And there will be nothing you will love more.

Motherhood is all about the new changes, boundaries that are to be pushed to the extent that you never thought will be possible and you will celebrate things you never knew would make you happy. The first walk of your baby will make you jump with excitement and happiness.

The kid will eventually become your life. It would be of no wonder that the little child will be your inspiration for everything you do. Before becoming a mommy, the title of mama, did not seem to be super charismatic. But once you have a baby, you cannot think of a title more loved than this one. And you cannot thank God enough for this privilege.

To be a parent is a life-changing encounter. It will open the gates of emotions wide open, where undoubtedly you will get a separate pair of eyes to witness the world in a new way. It will make you laugh and cry, feel emotions more deeply than you have ever felt before. But, motherhood also gets a bad reputation as you will have to narrow your choices, stunt your intellect, and make you less visible to the world around you. But real mothers know the importance of necessary sacrifices. Becoming a mother can spark something unexpected inside you, it can encourage a new layer of your spirit to brighten up, and push you down a path you never planned to take, one which is just meant for you.

On the other hand, motherhood is undoubtedly messy. That is a harsh but sometimes a sweet reality. You know it, and you see it every day if you are a mother especially a new mother. Let’s start with the house, of course, which is flooded with toys from every corner. Then the dishes and laundry waiting for your immediate attention. The toilets need scrubbing; the carpet needs vacuuming and the food is spilled all over. Let’s admit it; the house will never be as clean as it used to be before. These little people have undoubtedly altered your life and the tales of never-ending mess continues.

Then there’s the motherhood wardrobe and upkeep messes. Tiny bags of stress under the eyes from lack of sleep. Hair packed in oily ponytails. Makeup is altogether ignored or skipped.  Manicures have been forgotten.  You start to love the comfy clothes. It’s hard to be stylish when you can only afford survival.

Mom guilt can be messy too. Afraid of saying the wrong thing. Doing the wrong thing. Overcorrecting to your child activities or not correcting. Never ending advice splashed from every corner or in simple words: a screw-up. Self-doubt and questioning can you lend you to the messiest mess. That’s one large motherhood mess that weighs you down and steals your joy.

But then there’s the beauty of motherhood. It’s right there in the middle of those messes. Can you see it?

Maybe not, but then you have to see it again through the lens of motherhood.

That beautiful turned, messy house which is made up of beautiful, irreplaceable blessings is preferred more than ever before. A perfect, pristine house that everyone would drool over on Pinterest is no longer your wish to possess. But instead, the little fingerprints on windows in the middle of the night. There is the constant reminder that time is short and has the ability to pass in a blink of an eye, these blessings will be grown and gone one day?

A loving mother is a beautiful sight to behold. No fashion runway obliged to see that her eyes light up the moment she meets the little ones after school. Her beautiful smile simply appears at the sound of her children laughing. Her gentle, soft hands are sometimes held randomly. A mother’s heart is full of love and the special care towards the loved ones, and the same can’t be obtained through any measure.

Your life after the baby is a conundrum of beautiful experiences. Your life will be an utter blessing. Your life can get busy, hectic, messy and usually focused on meeting the needs. You will wake up every morning, long before your kid even turns on his bed so that you can have a soothing shower, dress, get breakfast ready before you need to turn on caregiver mode for another day. You will go to work, go home, cook dinner, engage with your family. Clean up and do it all over and over again. Your life will no longer be just yours but more of the child’s. A typical mother feels drawn towards the baby each and every day. Self-care is necessary, no matter how small but baby and you equally matter.

The incredible job of motherhood is no doubt the exceptionally drained job to undertake. And when you are exhausted, you are not the very best version of yourself. Find  time to rejuvenate yourself, to celebrate who you are as a person. You are the center of your world you are living in. If you aren’t healthy and well cared for, you will eventually wear and tear down. Spent time caring for yourself and the little baby around, it’s an investment for your long-term health.

There is indeed various battles to be fought for yourself and the little one. But at the end, motherhood is all about fighting to the end, and not giving up on yourself and focusing on others. You, however, need to believe that you are worth this time of reviving. The utmost respect to the new mothers who are struggling to meet ends. Life may be hard for you but we salute your spirit and we love you. Motherhood lets many magical and incredible things happen to you. This phase is going to make you the best version of yourself.

Motherhood is an incredible gift, but it is also a full-time commitment. It is easy to lose yourself in the mirage of duties but you are of incredible importance. Because “If mama isn’t happy, nobody is happy”. So, take the time to praise yourself for all the sacrifices and efforts you are going through. Thank God for everything and especially the gift of motherhood bestowed, for everyone’s sake.
