This morning I was at one of my kids classes and a mom commented how cute my youngest’s outfit was. Being a woman I proudly beamed I scored that Lily Pulitzer outfit for $3 at a garage sale. The next 23 mins of class consisted of 3 moms gushing about our go to places for good used clothes. Smart phones were buzzing pulling up websites and Facebook pages. We were liking and joining and planning our shopping like kids on a sugar high finding a buried treasure. It was MOMTOPIA!!!!!!

Now is a great time, as seasons change, to hit up these shops and sites. Most moms are getting ready or have purged to make way for new school clothes. I have no shame in my kids clothes game. On art day tossing awesome used clothes on my kids, which still match their style,  is easy knowing that a few splatters of paint won’t make me go spastic!IMG_7718

Here is another little hint as family photo season approaches…you can snag outfits worn 1 time for photos!!! I KNOW RIGHT!!! Those outfits you only wear once at a fraction of the price! SCORE!! {PS October is National Family Portrait Month so it’s a great time to start thinking about those outfits now. Pick a color palate and start looking for those key items one at a time. I’ll write more about this soon!!}

So lets jump into in!

Local Resale Shops  Depending on what you’re looking for you can find a treasure trove of items.
Kidz Again in Centerville – We’ve landed some great bargains for Land’s End and Gap for $5!!

I have yet to go, but one mom in the group raved about the brands she would find. This is definitely on my hit list.

Once Upon a Child – this is a chain with many different locations. I’ve heard for teens and tweens, you can find great brands that are gently used.  What’s also nice is that you can sell items for cash or use in-store credits on your next purchase!

Facebook  The day a friend suggested a site called Mini Boden & Hanna Anderson Resale is a day I remember as well as the birth of my children. There were angels singing and the sky cleared. I have bought clothes for my kid that retail for $30-$120, for $12-$40. It’s great! If Boden and Hanna Anderson are not your style (they are unique), you can search your fave kids brand followed by resale or BST within Facebook and hit the jackpot. Gymboree is HUGE in the BST world. {BST – Buy Sell Trade)

*Things you need to know about shopping with them: Items move fast sometimes. Items go to the first person that comments “SOLD.” You typically can “HOLD” an item to check on size or ask a question. Each group has it’s own unique rules you have to agree to. All transactions are done via Paypal and shipped to you. You become shopping buddies with other moms. I have a few moms that PM items they are about to post for first chance. You can see some other lingo and rules with FB sales here.

Zulily – Zulily is a flash sale site that gets a set amount of sizes and styles for various brands. Crocs is a big one!! What I LOVE about Zulily. I can set up alerts for specific brands to get an email the day before a sale starts. Popular items sell out fast!! So fast they suggest you check out as soon as you have an item in your cart. They do offer free shipping on additional purchases for 24 hrs to avoid paying multiple shipping costs. The downside of Zulily, is that items ship from the companies most times, meaning there is little control on shipping times. I’ve received my packages in 10 days to 4 weeks. They have gotten better about marking items “Ready to Ship” for faster turnaround.

KIDIZEN – This one is a new adventure to me. It’s an app only now available on both iPhone and Android systems. It’s a Buy Sell app boutique that will send me into shopping utopia, I’m sure. You can set up a Kid Filter for each of your children to narrow your feed to only what matches your needs!! You can have favorite shops/sellers you follow! I’m kind of IN LOVE! It’s like Etsy, meets BST meets Awesome!!

There ya go!! I have passed on my stealthy shopping knowledge! Buy Sell Trade sites can be intimidating at first. Once you learn the lingo and how each group works, they are so much fun!!

HAPPY SHOPPING!! Do you have any tips to add?
