Spring Break (1)Spring Break in Ohio… Last week we may have had snow, we have survived subzero temperatures, freezing rain, and even fog! But alas, we Daytonians are nothing if not resilient. And, Great news: Spring weather has finally arrived in the Miami Valley.

If you are ready to BREAK OUT and get moving, here are 10 Ideas for Dayton Area Day Trips!

1.  Young’s Dairy  At Young’s there is something for everyone.  Explore the farm, play mini golf, and don’t forget the food and ice cream!

2. Carillon Historical Park  The beautiful Carousel of Dayton Innovation is only one of the exciting things to see ( and ride!) at this local gem.  Learn about Dayton’s rich history at this must see 65-acre campus!  Other attractions to experience here: the 1905 Wright Flyer III, The Carillon Brewing Company and the 4D Theater.  New to Dayton? This is the perfect introduction to the city’s history.

3. Air Force Museum/Air Force Museum Theater – Would you like to give your child wings? Well, you can experience that and so much more at the Air Force Museum.  The 4th Sunday of each month there is an additional activity: the Air Force Museum Theater will bring you popular kids movies on the big screen! Upcoming dates: Lego Movie March 22. Iron Man April 26.

4. Boonshoft Museum of Discovery  Children’s museum, zoo, planetarium and observatory! You can splash, climb, dig for dinosaurs, or birdwatch from the the treehouse.   A wonderful way to spend a day of hands-on educational fun!

Carriage Hill Farm Travel back to the 1880’s on this working farm, a part of the Five Rivers MetroParks.  There are historical buildings, animals, and many, many demonstrations by volunteers.  Walk the trials, fish, pack a lunch for a picnic, or even try horseback riding.

6. Dayton Art Institute   Rated one of the top 10 art institutes for kids in the United States! Check out their Super Saturday Family Days or their Experiencenter.  Free admission for kids.

7. Charleston Falls  This is a great place to explore with children of all ages.  The trails are very easy to navigate, and there are steps down to the falls if you want a closer view.  Don’t forget to peek in the cave! Keep in mind, this is only one of many Miami County Parks.

8. Miami Valley Bike Trails  Get out and stay fit with the family on the 330 miles of trails to explore.  You can explore for a few hours, or take the adventure further by choosing one of the many camping options along the trails as well.

9. Scene 75   Bowling, mini-golf, laser tag, Go Kart, Bumpers Cars, and much more! This is perfect for a rainy day out.  Check out their Sunday Family Meal Deal too!
