Coffee Should ALWAYS Come Before Bathing the Dog

2

Why on earth would anyone bathe their dog before their morning coffee?

Simple – Emma.

If you’ve met Emma you’d understand. You would probably laugh and need no further explanation. Emma is our wild child! But if you haven’t, here is what happened this morning. Most mornings, Emma, my sweet and sassy two year old, will get up out of bed, stop by the bathroom and come wake me up. Only this morning there was an extra step. I’m asleep and she wakes me up and I smell something sweet but not immediately recognizable. I start to pick her up but realize her shirt is wet. There’s enough going on that I figure I should probably get up and investigate. I go into the bathroom and notice the under sink cabinet is wide open. Sitting on the toilet seat lid is a bottle of dog shampoo. On the floor is a bath paint tray overflowing with the contents of that bottle. Now as you may know, dog shampoo is not cheap. And if you are a parent of small children you probably also know your dog doesn’t get as many baths as she should. So there I was, eyes barely open, taking it all in. Weighing my options. I knew what I had to do.

Lorelai!

My tiny black and white Pomeranian pokes her head around the corner and eyes me suspiciously. Can’t say that I blame her. I scoop her up and do my best to use as much of the shampoo that is all over the bath toy and floor as I can. I get her cleaned up in the bathtub while simultaneously trying to keep Emma out of the bathtub. Once both girls are cleaned and dried, I finish cleaning up the bathroom. Only then am I finally able to stumble downstairs and pop a k-cup in the Keurig and officially start my day!

Kids… it’s a good thing they are cute!

Hello! My name is Amy! I am married to my wonderful husband who works at Target! How awesome is that!?! I have three very beautiful girls. Savannah is my oldest and my artistic one. Lacie is the middle one and is my wild child with the biggest heart. Emma is littlest one who acts and thinks like an adult. I work full time managing a team of specialists at a call center. I'm completely addicted to Iced Chai Lattes and Starbucks. I love getting out and about as much as our hectic schedule allows - either exploring new places or revisiting our tried and true favorites!

  1. HAHA! Thats so funny! I always explain to my kids that I can only put out one fire at a time…Its amazing how many “fires” can pop up in between our basic needs like eating, sleeping and going to the bathroom

    • So very true! Sometimes if it’s a small smolder I just leave it burning while I finish what I’m doing! Haha!
