Recently I became addicted to the funky butter soft leggings and tops sweeping the mom nation. They are comfy and I don’t feel I’m in the yoga pants rut. Like the funky patterns of artistic bear heads and bold flowers are proof I’ve made an effort to leave the house. They are so cute! The tunics are stretchy and flowy, draping like air over my body. I was LOVING the legging life. Then one day, about 4 weeks into my leggings bender there was a lull in the laundry. Most likely I got so caught up in my comfort leggings lifestyle I napped during the scheduled laundry time, but we won’t point fingers. So I had to wear jeans!!!! GASP!! There were zippers and buttons and they were just plain denim color. Gag me! Let’s just say it got worse from there.
My trusty comfy jeans that had loved me thru thick and thin, were not loving my denim hiatus. They would hardly zip. It was like a scene from the 90’s of laying on the bed to zip up my non-stretch Calvin Kline jeans. You remember that pair in the back of your closet you bought on clearance in your goal size and only fit after a stomach flu?
Shortly after, the scale confirmed my suspicions. During my stint of clothes with no bounds or shape, I gained over 10 pounds! The idea of giving up my sweet buttery soft leggings woven from angels in heaven was not even in my head. So, I did what every woman does when the chips are down. I went shopping and scored the most adorable denim tunic dress to wear over my leggings. My new clothing rule, unless I’m burning calories (or stuck at home with my kids and no one can see me) one of my items have to be of a structured material!
